12/22/202 Berkshire Gamers Session Report #26

With a large chunk of our regulars away for the holidays we had an intrepid 7 for our 12/22 session at Purple Dragon Games.

IN: K-ban & Sandy, Drew, Amy & Ethan, Michelle, Oliver
ON THE TABLES:
The Fox in the Forest (led by Ethan) A 2017 unique 2-player trick-taking game with trump and characters that have the special abilities to change trump or have the loser of a trick lead the next one..The game penalizes greed with it’s scoring system.
Odin’s Ravens (led by K-ban) a 2-player 2002 racing game that is a tense battle of hand management.I like the original design with the ‘Magic Way’ and a shorter course with a series rather than the current edition that features one long race.
Backgammon (led by Drew) – since I introduced an advanced version of the centuries old abstract game of Dominos at the previous session, it was only fitting for Drew to bring one of the oldest games (5000+ years) ever to our tables. 
DownForce (led by K-ban) – the 2017 latest implementation of Wolfgamg Kramer’s racing game Formel 1 – re-released as Nikki Lauda’s Formel Eins, Daytona 500, Detroit-Cleveland Grand Prix, Top Race. The 6 cars are auctioned off and then raced with 3 betting intervals. Drop dead gorgeous production. Next time we add special driver powers. 
TransAmerica (led by K-ban) 2001 game of route building that comfortably handles 6 due to lightning quick turns to connect your 5 cities before the other players. Next we add the ‘Vexation’ expansion that adds 3 player colored tracks to add to the tension. The sequel was the 2005 Trans Europa edition.
Take It Easy (led by Sandy) Peter Burley’s 1983 quick puzzle game is always well received.and was later expanded in Take it to the Limit and Take it Higher. The original is still a classic as an opener or closer.
