ON OUR TABLES:
Take It Easy (led by Sandy) 1983 puzzle game that is a true multi-player solitaire, in which each player individually completes a hexagon-shaped board with spots for 19 hexagon tiles. There’s no limit to the number of players provided you have enough copies on hand. One person (the caller) draws a tile randomly and tells the others which of the 27 tiles featuring colored/numbered lines crossing in three directions, with numbers from 1 to 9, it is. “The 9-8-7,” for example. Each player then chooses which empty spot on his own board he’ll play the 9-8-7. This is repeated until the boards are filled.

The idea is to complete same-numbered lines across your board. Scoring is calculated by multiplying the number on the tile with the number of tiles in the completed line. A complete column of three 9s is worth 27, for example…but a lot of players will hope for five 9s to fill the big column down the middle. It is often compared to Bingo because of the familiar pattern of a number being called and then everybody looking at their cards to play it, and then scoring if a line is completed. But that’s as far as the comparison goes. Bingo is sheer luck; Take It Easy is a game of skill.

Gachapon Trick (led by K-ban)  2024 card game that combines set collection with trick taking. The lead player may play any card they choose  The next player must follow that suit if they can, but may play any suit if they cannot. The following players must follow any of the suits already played if possible. The highest rank of the most represented suit wins the trick. If there is a tie for the most represented suit, the higher rank wins. If there is still a tie, the last played of the tied cards wins. The winning player MUST purchase at least one card from the trick, but MAY buy as many as they want. The winner places the cards they purchased face up in front of themself. The winner MAY also buy the top card of the deck for ¥500 – only once per trick. At the end of each of 3 rounds sets earn points –  number of cards in each set squared plus 1 point per 200 yen leftover.
Gearworks (led by Nicole)  2018 puzzle-style board game featuring card placement, hand management, and a “twist” on area control. The game is often described as “Sudoku meets steampunk.”

Strategically position your gears to fix a mysterious clockwork machine in the corner of the workshop. Collect parts created by the machine each round by being the last player to fix its various components. As tinkerers, players can certainly put those parts to good use and create fantastical contraptions!

Viticulture: Bordeaux (led by Tim) 2025 expansion to the base game. The Bordeaux alternative board offers players a starting boost, 4 full worker placement seasons, a wake-up chart full of benefits, a major new “expert” action that permanently upgrades an action for players, revisions to existing actions, a trade market, face-up vine and wine order cards to choose from when drawing, and end-game conversion of grapes, wine, and coins to victory points.

This expansion is compatible with most modules in other expansions (Tuscany structures and special workers, Moor Visitors, and Rhine Valley). We had 4 experienced Viticulture players.

In the Year of the Dragon (led by Zach) 2007 Stefan Feld design where players take on the role of Chinese rulers around the year 1000. The game plays out in twelve rounds, with each round representing one month in a year that seems to go from bad to worse. Disease, drought, and attacks from the Mongols may claim lives, but make sure you have enough money to offer a tribute to the Emperor. Players have a set of “person” cards. Each round, you choose one action (most of which call on your workers’ abilities) to help you prepare for the months ahead. Then you play one person card, recruiting that person and placing him into one of your palaces. Each person brings different skills and abilities to help you ride out the year. (Farmers help you gain rice to survive a drought month, Tax Collectors raise money, etc.) At the end of each round, that month’s event is triggered, which may cost you some of your workers, some money, or give you points.

Careful planning is the key to surviving “the year of the dragon,” but survival alone may not win you the game.

Tapestry (led by Matt) 2019 area majority and influence game where players create the civilization with the most storied history, starting at the beginning of humankind and reaching into the future. The paths chosen will vary greatly from real-world events or people — as each civilization is unique! Players start from nothing and advance on any of the four advancement tracks (science, technology, exploration, and military) to earn progressively better benefits. Players can focus on a specific track or take a more balanced approach. Players  will also improve their income, build their capital city, leverage their asymmetric abilities, earn victory points, and gain tapestry cards that will tell the story of their civilization.
Bus & Stop (led by Sandy) 2024 Saachi card game in which players compete as bus drivers bringing passengers to their desired destinations, while avoiding overcrowding. On a turn, players either pick up or drop off. To pick up, a player chooses all of the passenger cards of one color from the row waiting at the bus stop, then seats them in their bus — that is, the area in front of them, which can hold at most ten cards. Senior citizens aren’t going far, so you score them immediately instead of placing them on the bus.

To drop off, choose a group of passengers on your bus that match one of the available destination cards and then remove these passengers and place them under the card. Players score points for each card depending on how many people you delivered at once. Whenever a player drops off, everyone else can make one of their matching passengers skedaddle, removing them from the bus and placing them in a personal scoring pile with their senior citizens.

When the bus stop can’t be refilled with passengers or only a certain number of destination cards remain, the game ends. Players then tally their score, earning 1 point for each single card and the listed points for each destination card.

Shall We Dance 2X (led by K-ban) 2025 Saachi card game where gentlemen and ladies take to the floor with players trying to pair them off, in addition to specializing in certain types of dancers.

The game contains seven colors of dancers, with each color having ladies on half that color’s cards and gentlemen on the other half.

On a turn, play 1-3 cards of the same gender of either a new single color to their tableau or add to existing colors. In the latter case, players can now pair a gentleman and lady of the same color. Then for each color you played, if a player has any “free” (i.e. unpaired) cards, see whether another player has a free card of the same color and opposite gender; if so, take one of these cards to create a pair in front of you, with the holder of the “stolen” card being compensated by 1-2 points from the reserve.

To end your turn, refill your hand to eight cards by drawing 1-3 cards, one each from different stacks. When enough stacks have been depleted, the game ends, with each player revealing one more card to try to make a final pair.

Players score 1 point for each pair of dancers in front of them. Additionally, each player with the most cards in a color receives 3 points, with 1 point going to whoever has the next most cards. Whoever has the highest score wins.

The Gang (led by Tony) 2024 co-operative version of Texas Hold’em where players bet on how good they think their hand of cards will be relative to the other players, then try to make their predictions a reality. Early in a round, without talking to each other, each player chooses a chip indicating how good they think their hand is. Then they begin dealing cards into the middle of the table and have a chance to reassess their hands as more cards are revealed. At the end of the round, players see whether they correctly evaluated their hand. If all players did, you get to open one of the bank vaults! If not, you trip the alarm! If you manage to open three vaults before you trip the alarm three times, your gang wins!
DownForce (led by K-ban) 2017 revision of Wolfgang Kramer’s Top Race (1996) (which revised Formel Eins/Nikki Lauda’s Formel Eins/Daytona 500/Detroit Cleveland Grand Prix – from the 1980’s and early 1990’s). In the entire series, players are dealt a hand of movement cards, purchase car ownership via auction to the highest bidder and prize money is earned for placing.  Top Race and DownForce added predicting the winners at 3 strategic points in the race to earn more prize money. The race courses have choke points and card play can be vicious. DownForce also adds optional driver abilities. The marina course was used.
Bacon Roadtrip (led by Eli) 2013 roll and move set collection game where players move along the game board collecting ingredients, toll passes and recipes needed to win the Bacon Buddy Cook-Off. Fending off Vegan assaults, players must collect 4 recipes (and their ingredients) and get them back to their kitchen. The first player to acquire 4 recipe tokens and return to their kitchen is the winner. This was a thrift store find.
