ON OUR TABLES:
In Front of the Elevators (led by K-ban) 2019 Japanese card game where each player has a 7-card family, with the goal being to help get one’s family members onto the 3 elevators, which can hold only a few more people. Players score points for each of their family members who get on. All family members have a “Cut In Line” ability or a “Lost Child” ability. Those abilities allow a family member to cut their way to the front of the elevator line, and squeeze into the elevator, just before the doors close. If they get on the elevator that goes to their favorite floor, they score double points. The game is played over three rounds, and scoring takes place at the end of each round. Players total their round scores to find a winner.
Cabanga!/Snail It! (led by Sean) 2023 card game where players try to get rid of their hand of cards as quickly as possible — but ideally without picking up penalties along the way.

After the row cards and starting cards in all four colors have been placed in the middle of the table and players each have a hand of eight cards, the round begins. Players then take turns placing one card next to the matching row card in the middle, ideally with as small a difference as possible because the larger the number gap, the greater the chance that the other players will call out “Cabanga!” and throw cards with the values between the two number cards to the active player. These thrown-in cards are placed on the discard pile, then the active player must draw the same number of cards from the penalty pile.

When a player has no more cards in hand, the round ends and all players count the points on their cards. As soon as a player has collected 18 points, the game ends and the player with the fewest points wins!

Rococo – Deluxe Edition (led by Zach) 2020 economic influence/majorities game where players are the owner of a distinguished tailoring business endeavoring to increase their prestige. Each turn, one plays an employee card that allows the player to perform a task, such as hiring a new employee for their staff, tailoring exquisite gowns and frock coats to rent or sell, or funding some of the many decorations. However, employees are not always able to perform all tasks, so one must plan carefully how they direct them, especially as each employee grants a unique bonus — including some that generate prestige.

The Grand Ball ends after seven rounds with a huge fireworks display and final scoring. Players will gain prestige points for the sumptuous gowns and frock coats they have rented out to guests at the ball, certain employee bonuses, and the festive decorations they have funded. Whoever has collected the most prestige at the end of the game wins.

Castle Combo (led by Tony) 2024 tableau building card game. Each player will spend coins to draft 9 cards from 2 open markets on the table, with the messenger pawn, determining which market is open this turn – creating a 3×3 square of people interacting with each other to trigger instant effects and end-of-game bonuses. Each turn, players add a character to their tableau—a seemingly straightforward action that packs a punch regarding strategic decisions. Carefully managing one’s keys will be needed to carefully manage one’s Keys to influence the Messenger pawn at critical moments, as it controls which characters are available for recruitment from two different areas – peasants and nobles. Balancing one’s gold reserves is equally important, ensuring a player can afford the characters that best suit their strategy throughout the game. Selecting the right characters is crucial to maximising their immediate effects and the points they will contribute at the game’s end. Finally, carefully arranging these characters on one’s 3×3 board is key to unlocking their full potential.
A new expansion,  Out of the Oubliette!, has just been released, adding 12 new cards and a new rule: padlocks allow players to delay some card effects until a later turn, creating even greater combos.
Cities (led by Sean) 2024 drafting collaboration between prolific Australian designer, Phil Walker-Harding and Bostonian Dr Steve Finn. The game is played over eight rounds. Each round, players use their workers to collect 1 scoring card, 1 city tile, 1-2 feature tiles, and 2-4 building pieces. City tiles are made up of park spaces, water spaces, and building spaces. Building pieces are placed on building spaces of the same color to form buildings, which can be 1-4 stories high. Whenever a player fulfills an achievement, they place one of their wooden rings on the achievement board. At the end of the game, players add up the points they have gained from all of their scoring cards and achievements. We played in the New York City setting, with public rewards for Central Park, Avenues and Skyscrapers.
Azul (led by Rachel P) 2017 Michael Kiesling designed drafting and pattern building game, where players take turns drafting colored tiles from suppliers to their player board. Later in the round, players score points based on how they’ve placed their tiles to decorate the palace. Extra points are scored for specific patterns and completing sets; wasted supplies harm the player’s score. The player with the most points at the end of the game wins. Azul won 2018’s SdJ and several other major awards. The base game has spawned three sequels – Stained Glass of Sintra, Summer Pavilion and Queen’s Garden, plus the Master Chocolatier edition of the base game. Much to explore in future request nights, right?
Vivo (led by Armando) 2024 trick taking card game, where each round starts by revealing a harmony type (Solo, Duet, Trio, Quartet). The harmony determines how many suits must be played in the trick—not being able to is considered playing “off-harmony,” making that player ineligible for points. At the end of the trick, the player who played the highest on-harmony card scores two points, and the lowest on-harmony card scores for the value of that card (those bass notes are so important!).
Cities (led by Ethan) 2008 tile laying and puzzle game where players take on the role of architects trying to build a city that is the most attractive for tourists. Tiles are called out one at a time for all to place in x 4×4 city. Players try to position attractions close together as they build parks as large as possible and place terraces close to the water. Players guide tourists to their favorite spots, because only through them can points be earned.

Maskmen (led by Armando) 2014 Japanese shedding/climbing card game about Mexican Wrestling. Think of it as a mirror image of Cat in the Box. Maskmen has suits established but play determines rank each round whereas Cat in the Box has rank established but suit/color to be determined each round.
Propolis (led by Sean) 2025 worker-placement, engine-building, area-control, and tableau-building game from the design team that brought us Point Salad, Point City and Point Galaxy. Players take on the role of competing medieval bee colonies and take turns deploying worker bees to collect pollen, fortify their positions, and construct their hives to appease their queen and become the most glorious in the land!  As bees compete over the realm’s floral landscapes, they will be collecting pollen to create the propolis they need to build their hives. Attaining dominance in different realms provides additional glory and building materials. As hives expand, new structures provide additional resources, new scoring opportunities, and the prerequisites to construct a glorious palace for the queen. The player who dominates the realm and builds the most prestigious home wins.
Landmarks (led by K-ban) 2024 word game of hidden paths and clever clues. We used the co-op version where one player serves as the pathfinder (cluegiver) guiding the team to treasure, avoiding curses, hydrating and trying to exit with treasure in hand. There are multiple ways to fail/die – and our team managed to avoid them all. In this jungle, every word matters, as using strategic wordplay sends a chain of one-word clues with the connections between them creating a path leading to fortune and glory.  The team won, exiting with 3 treasures. Fans of Codenames and Just One should enjoy Landmarks.
Jungo (led by Armando)  2025 shedding card game. From a deck of 64 cards, with eight copies each of 1-8, players get a hand of cards that they cannot rearrange. The starting player leads a card or set of cards with the same value — but they can play multiple cards only if the cards are adjacent to one another in their hand. If cards have been played on the table, to play one must play the same number of cards with a higher value or a larger set of cards, e.g., 2 < 5 < 3,3 < 6,6 < 2,2,2 < 1,1,1,1. When you overplay someone, you can pick up the cards you beat and add them to your hand where you wish, or you can discard them.

If a player cannot or chooses not to play, they must pass, drawing a card from a facedown pile; some cards have two values on them, e.g., 1/2 or 5/6, and can be played as either number. Players either add this card to their hand where they wish, discard it, or — calling on the law of the “jungo” — play it immediately as part of a combination from their hand that beats what’s on the table.

If all but one player passes, clear the table, with the player who last played leading to an empty table.

Whoever first empties their hand wins! Alternatively, since the game is short, play multiple rounds, with the first player to win two rounds winning the game.

Binho Classic (led by K-ban) 2019 turn based tabletop soccer finger flicking game with elastic bands surrounding the field. Score goals by shooting the ball (marble) creating angles and finding openings throughout the 10 defenders that are spaced on each side of the board. The game is played to 7 goals and can be played 1 on 1 or 2 on 2. The World Cup is coming to the US this summer.
Moonlit Alchemy (led by Chris) prototype trick taking game by Chris being playtested.
