ON OUR TABLES:
Yokai Septet (led by Tim) 2018 trick-taking card game that is a reimplementation of 2015’s ‘7 symbols and 7 Nations” The deck consists of 7 cards in 7 different suits. The team game was played, the winning team being the first to capture four Boss Yokai ‘7’ cards.
River Valley Glassworks 2x (led by K-ban) 2024 drafting and pattern building game. This is a 30 minute family game, where players are collecting glass pieces from the river and lake to fill up their warehouse. VPs are scored at game’s end for both rows (only if unbroken from left) and one’s two highest columns. There are penalties for drafting glass that doesn’t fit in one’s warehouse. Beautifully produced and we’ll explore the 6 mini-expansions that came with the deluxe edition in future sessions.
Endeavor: Deep Sea (led by Matt) 2024 complex game where players head an independent research institute with the goal of developing sustainable projects and preserving the fragile balance of marine life. Throughout the game, players recruit field experts and use their abilities to explore new locations, research dive sites, publish critical ecological papers, and launch conservation efforts. Players will expand their expertise, develop their teams, and learn as much as possible about the sea.
Roll Camera: the Filmmaking Board Game (led by Amy) 2021 cooperative dice worker placement game of resource management and a central geometric puzzle as players are working together to produce a movie. Players throw the custom D6 Crew dice, each face representing a different production department (camera, light, sound, actor, production design, visual effects) and assign them to actions, either on the main board or on their individual player boards. One’s player board features a specific head of department (Director, Producer, Cinematographer, Editor, Production Designer or The Star) and contains unique action spaces that can be used on one’s turn. Place the Crew in specific arrangements matching those on the Shot cards, resolve the constant Problems getting in your way, and hold production meetings to play Idea cards from your hand to help out. Everything costs time and money, and the team loses if either one runs out. The team must also ensure that their film reaches a certain level of Quality in order to win! We made a marginally successful film.

MIND MGT (led by Tim) 2021 cooperative hidden movement and deduction game where one player (Mind MGT) moves around on a secret map, trying to visit locations that match one of their three randomly drawn feature cards. They can also use their four Immortals to protect locations from being exposed. All other players control the rogue agents who must try to stop Mind MGMT before it’s too late! They ask questions to the Recruiter and deduce their whereabouts from the answers they receive. Rogue agents can use dry-erase “mental notes” to track all the information they’re given. Mind MGMT wins by either collecting twelve recruits or surviving sixteen turns. The rogue agents can win only by capturing Mind MGMT, which they do when they believe they’re on the same block as Mind MGMT. Think of this as Scotland Yard on steroids.
Canvas (led by K-ban) 2021 drafting, pattern matching and card crafting game where players are painters competing in an art competition. Players will collect art cards, layering 3 of them together to create their own unique named Painting. Each card contains a piece of artwork as well as a set of icons used during scoring. Icons will be revealed or hidden based on the way players choose to layer the cards making for an exciting puzzle. Paintings are scored based on a set of Scoring cards which will change each game. Once players have created and scored 3 paintings the game ends. There are two expansions (Reflections and Finishing Touches) still to be explored.
