Two Greyhounds (Glyph & Xander) plus a brief visit by John’s Sheltie, Remi, made for an actual Three Dog Night.
(led by Tim) 2018 Roll & Write puzzle game where players try to connect as many exits on their boards as possible. Each round, a set of dice are rolled in the middle of the table, determining which kind of road and railway routes are available to all players. Players have to draw these routes on their erasable boards to create transport lines and connect their exits, trying to optimize the available symbols better than their opponents.
The more exits connected, the more points scored at the end of the game, but players lose points for each incomplete route, so plan carefully!
(led by Edward) 2005 sequel to TransAmerica. Each player has a set of five cities strung across Europe that need to be connected by rail. Players place either one or two rails each turn. The first player to connect their five cities wins the round, with all other players losing points for being too slow! After 3-4 rounds, the player with the most points wins!
(led by Ethan) 2022 introductory version features the familiar gameplay from the Ticket to Ride game series — collect cards, claim routes, draw tickets — but on a map of 1960s San Francisco that allows players to complete a game in no more than 15 minutes. Cablecars are used instead of trains.
(led by Amy) 2007 Martin Wallace original Brass design is an economic strategy game that tells the story of competing cotton entrepreneurs in Lancashire during the industrial revolution. Players must develop, build, and establish their industries and network so that they can capitalize demand for iron, coal and cotton. The game is played over two halves: the canal phase and the rail phase. To win the game, score the most victory points (VPs), which are counted at the end of each half. VPs are gained from your canals, rails, and established (flipped) industry tiles.
(led by K-ban) 2013 TtR expansion map with new destination tickets, bridge toll tokens and bonus cards. Points for route completion are higher than most versions and tokens are paid to the bank for first to build on a double route and to the first player to claim if another player claims the second route. Bonuses are earned based on a player’s remaining bridge toll tokens.
(led by Ethan) 2005 base game stand-alone version of TtR with the addition of ferries and tunnels. This version (or the original with the USA map) are prerequisites for the other expansion maps.
(led by Sean) 2023 revised edition of 2014 Isle of Trains. where you are the conductor, and constructor of one of the island’s locomotives. Players build trains and load a range of goods to complete contracts across the island, and also deliver passengers to their destinations.
It is a card-based engine building game where cards have multiple uses: Players can use cards as locomotives, freight cars, passenger cars, or buildings to improve the effectiveness and abilities of their train. Cards can also be spent to pay for the construction of new train cars and buildings, or players can use their cards as cargo and load them onto available freight cars. Players also earn bonuses for delivering passengers to their destinations.
2x (led by K-ban) 2009 2-player classic card game of drafting goods and camels to sell for VPs….addictive game that should be in your collection
(led by Ethan) 1999 Knizia 2-player card game that also should be in everyone’s collection – an especially good couples game. Play your expedition card to earn points but be careful, as each expedition that is started costs 20 points.
