For our March 8 session we are starting a new tradition – on dates ending in an 8, we will honor/highlight the few games on BGG that have a rating of 8.0 or higher.

Sean will be leading Lost Ruins of Arnak while Amy is preparing for either Everdell or Wingspan.

Pit (led by K-ban/Sean) 1903 frantic commodities trading game. 8 of us were traders calling out TWO! TWO! ( 2 for the love of God is what John McCallion would call out) and swapping wheat, corn or the other 6 until someone corners the market and rings the bell. We made the MtG crowd take notice from the din. Yay us!

Hab & Gut/The Rich & the Good

(led by Drew) 2008 stock manipulation game. Card racks shared between neighbors with the selection of one market influence card from each neighboring rack sending prices for 6 commodities up or down (but mostly up). Then there’s the big BUT – whoever has donated the least share value to charity a game end is eliminated.

Lizard Wizard

(led by Sean) 2021 Glenn Drover design that takes the core mechanics of his previous Raccoon Tycoon to new heights, in a world of wizards and magic. Players compete to recruit wizards from seven unique schools of magic, build mystical towers, research powerful spells, summon helpful familiars, and search dark dungeons for gold and items of power. The market manipulation here is for the values of 7 reagents needed to cast spells.

Bear Raid

(led by Tim) 2022 game where players buy, sell, and short stocks in the stock market during the action phase of the game. Forecast cards with clever news headlines will be used to determine how each stock is affected.Through the use of colored dice, players can manipulate share prices to either raise the value of your portfolio or sell short and try to crash that company’s stock value.
