We had an epidemic this past week –

Dwayne – out with a cold
Tim – Canine family member at emergency veterinary hospital
We wish all a speedy recovery
I had a reaction to my COVID-19 booster but rallied in time for Gamenite.

But we did have an intrepid group of eight at Purple Games for a spirited evening

Lucky Numbers – led by K-ban – more a puzzle pastime than a game, but quick and fun
This will get a lot of time with family.

Ohanami – led by Danny – Herb had introduced us to this quirky game from the designer of The Game 1-deck game with a pasted on Japanese theme

Gemblo – led by K-ban…the 2003 Korean answer to Blokus….but can handle up to 6 players and uses hexagonal gems.

We then moved on to dueling tile laying games – Carcassonne vs the alleged Carcassonne Killer – BTW the 2 games finished within a minute or two of each other

Carcassonne South Seas – led by Drew, 2013 Carcassonne spin-off as instead of the familiar cities, roads and farms, players use their meeples to gather bananas, shellfish and fish, then ship those goods to traders in exchange for points

Land vs Sea – led by K-ban -double-sided tiles, team play (2, 3 or 4), double turns, stealing tiles, drafting replacements….this takes the Carcassonne model to the extreme (or CRUNCHY as Armando opined).

King Me – led by Drew – bluffin and voting game….many laughs at vote results

Trendy – led by K-ban – a simple Knizia card game that’s been re-themed several times – the original with fashion designers.. We got in 5 rounds in 35 minutes.
