10 at Purple Dragon Games for our penultimate 2022 session.

Welcome to Corey on his first visit.
Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah to all celebrating the holidays.(as well as Kwanzaa and Festivus celebrants). Sean could organize an airing of grievances and feats of strength competition for the rest of us, only if there are sufficient requests.
Sandy and I will be heading on a southern road trip, visiting friends and relatives along the way for 3-4 weeks. During our absence, Sean Kelly will be leading our sessions (starting 12/28)
I travel with my notebook PC, but won’t be able to post as frequently as usual. Kindly communicate your attendance and cooperate with Sean.
There’s an unconfirmed rumor that train games might get played on December 28 – making Edward, Amy and Ethan very happy campers.

ON OUR TABLES:
NMBR9 (led by Tim) 2017 tile stacking game that includes twenty cards numbered 0-9 twice and eighty tiles numbered 0-9; each number tile is composed of squares in some arrangement. Cards are revealed one at a time. Each player takes a number tile matching the card and places it on the table. With each new card drawn after that, each player takes the appropriate number tile, then adds it to the tiles that they already have in play, with each player building their own arrangement of tiles.

The new tile must touch at least one other tile on the same level along one side of a square. A tile can also be placed on top of two or more other tiles as long as no part of the new tile overhangs the tiles below it; new tiles placed on this same level must touch at least one other tile, while also covering parts of at least two tiles and not overhanging.

Once all the cards have been drawn and the tiles placed, players take turns calculating their score. A tile on the bottom level scores 0 points; a tile on the 1st level above this is worth as many points as the number on the tile; a tile on the 2nd level is worth twice the number on the tile; etc. Whoever scores the most points wins!

Kites (led by K-ban) 2022 fantic real-time co-op game that takes less than 15 minutes. Everyone works together to keep all their kites — represented by colorful sand timers — in the air. Take turns playing cards, flipping the sand timers, and coordinating with other players to ensure none of the timers run out. If it does, a kite has crashed!  We lost twice in the base game but improved. Complication cards can be added for additional challenges.

Play all of the kite cards in the deck, and everybody wins!

Trendy (led by Sandy) 2000 Knizia card game of  either following or bucking fashion trends.
Cahoots 2x (led by Sandy) 2018 co-op with 2 consecutive WINS by the group.
What the Heck/Raj/Hols der Geier/Bet the Buzzard (led by Sandy) 1988 Alex Randolph classic bluffing sealed auction card game.Rarely is a game broken down to its barest elements like this one. Players are given an equal deck of bidding cards from one to fifteen. Each turn, a prize tile is randomly selected from a pool. A prize tile is worth either positive or negative points (from -5 to +10). Each player is attempting to gather the most positive points from these prizes. Players secretly select one of their remaining bidding cards and reveal them simultaneously. For positive prizes, the highest card gets the prize; For negative prizes, the lowest card is stuck with the prize. However, if two people play the highest (or lowest) card, they cancel each other out and the prize goes to the next in line. The highest total score after all fifteen prizes are awarded wins.
Hidden Leaders (led by K-ban & Sean) 2022 2022 30-minute hidden identity chaotic power struggle, as players influence 4 factions – with much chaos, screwage and light-hearted deceit.

Players take the role of one of six secret leaders, each of them is allied with two of the four factions/colors. By playing heroes into your tableau, either openly or secretly, you influence the outcome of the conflict.

At the end of the game, one of the four factions will win:

  • Red leading by 2 or more spaces > Red victory
  • Green leading by 2 or more > Green victory
  • Red & Green tied or either leading by 1 > Blue victory
  • Red & Green both advance to the War Zone > Black victory
Traumfabrik/Dream Factory/Hollywood Blockbuster 2x (led by K-ban & Emmet) 2000 Knizia movie-making auction game. Earn points for creating the best movies with value calculated by adding the stars for directors, actors, effects, music, etc required for that movie.. Awards for first picture completed in a genre’ best picture, etc get added to scores for completed films. Auctions use a closed amount of contracts to determine the winner at each location- with the resultant tiles added to your films. We had 2 games going on simultaneously.
Scout (led by table) 2019 Japanese climbing card game that was one of the 3 finalists for 2022 SdJ award.
