8/3/2022 – Berkshire Gamers Session Report #22-30

A perfect storm as several regulars were on vacation and/or unavailable

6 at Purple Dragon Games – a return visit from Sean
As a result, we postponed our city-building themed session until our 8/10 session.
We did get to play Villagers (with the correct rules this time….improves the experience) as preparation. Expect games like Villagers, Streets, The Estates, 60 Second City, Big City, Happy City, Tiny Towns, St Petersburg, Alhambra, Kingsburg.

ON OUR TABLES:
Splendor (led by K-ban) 2014 Marc Andre’ classic game of open drafting for sets and nobles..This should be in everyone’s collection. Sean helped/coached Sonya to a very close finish that required a tie-breaker and had Rob shaking his head in having never seen several dynamics he witnessed as a spectator (all of which contradicted his previous experiences with the game….we’re glad to entertain you Rob).
Atelier: The Painters Studio (led by Rob)  Take on the role of an artist managing an atelier, or art studio, during the 19th century in this 2019 art game. Roll dice, manage your assistants, collect needed paint, and complete famous works of art. Perhaps another art themed night should be in the offing? (Pastiche, Canvas, Fresco, Atelier)

Villagers (led by K-ban/Tim) 2019 clever Norwegian drafting and building game set in medieval times – draft chains of villagers as well as solitary ones to earn the most gold at first market and end of game. Same author as Streets and recently crowdfunded Moon.
Kokopelli (led by K-ban) Second time playing this 3-4 player 2021 Stefan Feld card game of ceremonies.. Each of the 10 ceremonies chosen bestows a special ability to its owner when started/unfinished….but finishing ceremonies by playing the 4th card in a set scores the big points but loses that special ability/power.
