7/20/2022 – Berkshire Gamers Session Report #22-28

An even dozen for July 20th at Purple Dragon Games for Games of  Ancient Rome & Greece

First time attending for Ian (recommended by one of my former LI-Gamers members, visiting relatives in Williamstown from CA) 
7/27 session is for requests. Did you miss something we played recently?
Some new fare has arrived:
Tim has Kennerspiel des Jahres (Gamer’s Game) winner ‘Living Forest’ plus ‘Gutenberg’
K-ban can bring SdJ winner , Cascadia as well as finalist, Scout.
Got a favorite game you think the group would enjoy – bring it!

ON OUR TABLES:
Akrotiri (led by Tim) 2014 2-player card and tile game that combines tile placement, hand management, and pick-up and delivery — players place land tiles in order to make the board match the maps that they have in hand. Players excavate temples but the secret goal cards keep everyone guessing who the victor is until the end! 
Hera & Zeus (led by Amy) 2000 2-player card game that loosely resembles Stratego
Santorini  4x (led by Ian, Rob, Tim) 2-player 2016 abstract that can also be played as teams – we did both! (and several times). Move and build – get either of your builders to the 3rd level to win.
Caesar & Cleopatra (led by K-ban) 1997 2-player influence/voting game of Patrician factions…great couples game.
7 Wonders: Architects 2x (led by Ian & Tim) 2021 stand-alone game in the 7 Wonders universe….packs a wallop in 30-45 minutes as players draft cards to build their Wonders to earn VPs and special abilities.
Foundations of Rome (led by K-ban) 2022 – first time with a full complement of 5 players and resultant full board, once all have had their opportunity we can add the many expansions. Simple to teach yet meaty. 
Downfall of Pompeii (led by Drew) 2004 – lave me or lava me not as Pompeii is about to blow. Can you save your villagers from the eruptions?
Forbidden Island (led by Mike) 2010 co-op….two failures for our intrepid group.
Azul (led by Amy) 2018 SdJ (German Game of the Year)
