ON OUR TABLES:
Bosa (led by Nicole/K-ban) 2024 very accessible drafting and tableau building card game.  Be the player with the most points by strategically placing building cards into your 4×4 townscape to gain coins, resources, and points. Each building will have an action that you take in the order of placement in the row or column that you choose. You also select 2 of the 4 goal cards to score extra points at the end of the game. If you like Point City, Middle Ages and Splendor, this 45 minute Gateway game will appeal to you.
Stone Age (led by Chris) 2008 classic worker placement and set collection game where players take the roles of hunters, breeders, collectors, farmers, and tool makers . Players use up to ten tribe members each in three phases. In the first phase, players take turns placing their tribe members in regions of the board that they think will benefit them, including the hunt, the breeding tent, the trading center, and the quarry. In the second phase, each player activates each of their staffed areas in whatever sequence they choose, in turn order. In the third phase, players must have enough food available to feed their populations, or they face losing resources or points.
The White Castle (led by Tim) 2023 resource management, worker placement and dice placement game. Over three rounds, players will send members of their clan to tend the gardens, defend the castle or progress up the social ladder of the nobility. At the end of the match, these will award players victory points in a variety of ways. The Matcha expansion was released in 2024.
Fellowship of the Ring Trick Taking Game (led by Armando) 2024  is a co-operative card game that plays out over eighteen chapters that lead players through the events of the novel The Fellowship of the Ring. The chapters can be played in any order, but ideally you play them in sequence.
Sardegna (led by K-ban) 2024 revised edition of Stefan Dorra’s 2005 area majority and hand management game, Kreta. Players use 7 character cards to deploy and maneuver pieces, claiming influence across the island’s 16 provinces by placing ships, Priests, Villagers, villages and forts. Agricultural tokens harvested in each province can provide additional VPs. In each round, Victory Points are up for grabs for the two players with the most sway in the designated scoring location. Strategy is key because players only know the next two scoring locations at any time – so the timing of card play becomes crucial. Each player’s set of character cards has unique abilities and limitations, and every move can shift the fortunes of influence. Opponents will do their best to thwart opponent’s control, scoring zones can jump unexpectedly, and one’s provinces can lose their value in a flash! The Korean publisher, Playte Games, is using a very compact ingenious magnetic box design – their ‘L’ box for their reprints of 20+ year old classic eurogames that also include ‘Tonga Bonga’ and ‘Big Shot’.
Blood Rage (led by Matt) 2019 revision of 2015’s Midgard with spectacular 3D miniatures. It is an area control/influence game with drafting and action points.  Players control the warriors, leader, and ship of their own Viking clan. It’s the Vikings’ last chance to go down in a blaze of glory and secure their places in Valhalla at Odin’s side! As a Viking players can pursue one of many pathways to glory – they can: invade and pillage the land for its rewards; crush their opponents in battle: fulfill quests: increase their clan’s stats: or even die gloriously in battle or from Ragnarök, the ultimate inescapable doom.

Most player strategies are guided by the cards drafted at the beginning of each of the three game rounds (or Ages). These “Gods’ Gifts” grant you numerous boons for your clan including: increased Viking strength and devious battle strategies, upgrades to your clan, or even the aid of legendary creatures from Norse mythology. They may also include various quests, from dominating specific provinces, to having many of your Vikings sent to Valhalla. Most of these cards are aligned with one of the Norse gods, hinting at the kind of strategy they support. Players must choose their strategies carefully during the draft phase, but also be ready to adapt and react to their opponents’ strategies as the action phase unfolds. Battles are decided not only by the strength of the figures involved but also by cards played in secret. By observing your opponent’s actions and allegiances to specific gods you may predict what card they are likely to play, and plan accordingly. Winning battles is not always the best course of action, as the right card can get a player even more rewards by being crushed.

Quorum (led by Tim) 2025 set collection and hand management card game where players take on the role of Roman senators who share the power of Rome and its provinces with the aim of acquiring the greatest amount of influence possible. The goal is to be the most powerful and influential senator by gaining victory points, which are awarded in various areas of influence over the twelve rounds of the game. On their turn, players take and play a card in front of them to affect one of the provinces. The turns continue in this way until all the players have twelve cards in front of them. At the end of the game, the combination of cards played and the influence accumulated in each of the provinces will award players victory points, which will then decide who wins.
Traxx (led by Reimi) 2015 flip & write (Dutch import) as players draw their path to reach as many of the 10 target treasures as possible, while visiting as many hexes on their erasable board as possible. Full points for being first to reach a target, half (rounded up) for subsequent arrivals. One point penalty for every hex not visited on your board.
Fluxx (led by Nicole) 1997 family card game in which the cards themselves determine the current rules of the game. By playing cards, players change numerous aspects of the game: how to draw cards, how to play cards, and even how to win.At the start of the game, each player holds three cards and on a turn a player draws one card, then plays one card. There are many editions, themed siblings, and promo cards available.
Trendy (led by K-ban) 2000 Reiner Knizia set collection card game (with a twist , of course) of fashion designer trends that has been re-themed twice (Whale Riders and Crazy Race) but the original is still the best… but out of print (in German). Each turn, players lay a card face up to the table and draw a new card. When as many cards for a designer have been laid face up as the number on that designer’s cards, that designer has a “breakthrough” and players who played that number save those cards for scoring at the end of the hand.  All other played cards are discarded. There are 2 special cards for each designer in the deck:
  • A Super Model is worth 2 cards toward achieving a breakthrough.
  • An OUT card clears all of that designer’s face up cards.
With 4 players, we played 4 hands with everyone dealing once….the alternative is to play until someone scores 100 points.

Rainbow (led by Nicole)  2024 single deck quick playing hand management card game from Japan. Players play solo cards, sets, or runs to win points on cards in the center of the table. The cards that were played in the previous round are the NEW points available to win in the next round. Most points at the end of the game wins!
