Dice Miner (led by Sean) 2021 dice rolling and drafting game (with a push your luck aspect) where players are Dwarf heroes with variable powers, drafting dice for their hoard. In each of three rounds, custom dice are rolled onto the mountain.  Scores are tallied after each round before players re-roll their dice and the mountain is refilled. Ultimately, Dice Miner is a game about drafting the dice players covet, adding them to their hoard, and pushing their luck to build combos and score as many points as they can. ….and there’s beer involved. The Kickstarter deluxe version has a plastic mountain, dice cup and extra character tiles.

Not So Pleasant Vacation (led by Quinn) prototype playtest of Quinn’s co-op game of being marooned on an island during a vacation and trying to survive by hunting, gathering and keeping the island habitable – we failed. Details on prototype playtesting are seldom shared in print. 

Thunder Road: Vendetta (led by Sean) 2023 is a revved-up restoration of the classic 1986 Milton Bradley game of mayhem on the asphalt. Players grab their crew, roll their dice, race their cars, shoot their guns, and try not to get wrecked. Players rocket their team of three cars and a helicopter down a stretch of post-apocalyptic highway and try to either wipe out the other teams or outdistance them and leave them in the dust. Each turn consists of a dice roll to determine car movement and a combat phase where you try to shoot or ram your opponents. The game board consists of two pieces of highway and when the lead car exits the front piece of highway, the back piece is placed in front (after dumping all the wrecks and slowpokes off of it) thus creating a never-ending game board. This new version features exciting new additions, including random hazard tokens, such as wrecks, oil slicks, and more. Damage isn’t merely one and done. Now, players draw damage tokens with exciting effects that can send their cars careening across the board. Players also have more choices on their turn, assigning one of their dice to their command board to repair damage, nitro boost, or send out their attack copter to fire away.

Foundations of Rome (led by K-ban) 2022 city building game from Emerson Matsuuchi (author of the Century Trilogy and Reef) as he pays homage to Sid Sackson’s Acquire and Metropolis… and then takes things several steps further, while keeping the rules simple and the game engaging to players of all levels. . On each turn, players choose from among 3 actions – purchasing a new lot, building a new building in the shared city of Rome, or collecting income. There are multiple expansions to explore. Overproduced? certainly, but the game shines and finishes in a reasonable 60-90 minutes. A re-themed retail version, Foundations of Metropolis, is due out Q3 2024, for those who love the base game but don’t have room for that big honking box (it takes up an entire game bag) and plastic miniature buildings.

Trogdor!!: the Board Game (led by Armando) 2019 cooperative area control and influence game. For centuries, the legendary wingaling dragon.Trogdor the Burninator, has terrorized the peasant kingdom of Peasantry with his scorching flames and greased-up beefy arm. Now, he has descended from the mountains once again and will not stop until he burninates the entire countryside and all those unfortunate enough to get in his way!
