4/20/2022 – Berkshire Gamers Session Report #22-16

14 at Purple Dragon Games on April 20 for a request night

ON OUR TABLES:
2-player games
Star Realms (led by Sean)  a 2014 spaceship combat deck-building game
Snatch It (led by Sandy) 2001 reimplementation of the classic Anagrams. Place the tiles face down and take turns to turn them over until a word of three or more letters can be made. If you see and say the word first, take it. Watch out. From now on the game has 2 sides as words are made both from the central pool of letters or snatched from other players if changed by one or more letters
Tranquility (led by K-ban) 2020 co-op best with 2-3 players – a WIN. Armando had recently obtained a copy while in Nebraska….now very glad he did.
Glasgow (led by Sean) 2020
Blokus Duo (led by Mike) Original 2005 Blokus shrunk to 2 players on a smaller board.
Patchwork (led by Wendy) one of the best 2-player games ever….and multiple themed editions since 2014 – this time on the Halloween version. A must add to your 2-player collection. 
Multi-player Games
King Domino (led by Tim) 2017 SdJ winner – draft domino-like terrain pieces to earn the most VPs. Great family game.
 

Castles of Mad King Ludwig (Amy) 2014 release….so King Ludwig has a 1-track mind – raiding the treasure to build elaborate castles that meet his ever-changing whims.

Potion Explosion (led by Emmet) Take an ingredient marble from the dispenser in this 2015 release and watch the others fall. If you connect marbles of the same color, they explode and you can take them, too! Complete your potions using the marbles you collect, and drink them to unleash their magical power. 
Paleo (led by Tim) 2020 co-op where your stone age tribe combines forces to eat, hunt, develop new tech and mostly try to survive. The game beat us badly.  
Space Base (led by Sean) a John D Clair 2018 quick-to-learn, quick-to-play dice game using the core “I roll, everyone gets stuff” mechanism combined with a strategic engine building using a player board (your space base) and tableaus of ship cards you can buy and add to your board. The cards you buy and the order you buy them in have interesting implications on your engine beyond just the ability on the card purchased.
Three Sisters (led by Wendy)  brand new (2022) roll & write about backyard farming. Uses dice and a rondel.
Switch & Signal (led by K-ban) 2020 co-op nominated for SdJ. A puzzle for getting 8 colored cubes to their goal city thru setting switches and signals. We thought we had lost until Mike remembered that we hadn’t used one of our helpers for a re-roll – WE WON 
Regicide (led by Emmet) 2020 co-op using a 52-card deck to defeat the monarchy.
Raiders of Scythia (led by Sean) The aim of this 2020 release is to be the player with the most Victory Points (VP) at the game’s end, by raiding Settlements, taking Plunder and completing Quests. Players will need to assemble a Crew, train Animals and gather Provisions.
